Module Clamps Are Not Roof Clamps or General Mounting Brackets

A module clamp holds the PV module frame to the mounting rail or approved support profile. Mid clamps work between adjacent modules; end clamps secure the outside edge of a module row.

Roof clamps and roof brackets perform a different function: they connect the racking system to the roof or supporting structure. Keeping those products separate avoids ordering a visually similar part for the wrong interface.

  • Use module clamps only with framed modules and systems for which the clamp is approved.
  • Check the module manufacturer's permitted clamping zone and installation instructions.
  • Confirm the rail slot, nut or click-in interface before ordering.
  • For frameless or laminate modules, use a product specifically designed and approved for that module type.

Do not assume that an adjustable clamp fits every rail. For example, current K2 “universal” clamps have defined frame-height ranges and explicit system exclusions, while Renusol's universal RS1 is specified for its own rail/system family.

Finish Is a Variant; Material Must Follow the Product Design

Professional module clamps commonly use aluminum bodies with stainless-steel and polymer components, but alloy, fastener material and auxiliary parts vary by product family. Use the model drawing or datasheet rather than applying one material specification to every clamp.

  • Natural / mill or anodized finishes can be used depending on the product specification.
  • Black-anodized versions are primarily a finish option for dark module and rail aesthetics.
  • Bolts, nuts and polymer or spring elements are product-specific.
  • Corrosion compatibility should be checked against the rail, module frame and installation environment.
