A PV canopy should not be described as generically “waterproof” just because modules sit above the parking area. Water passes through module gaps unless the selected canopy uses a documented sealing or secondary-roof strategy.

  • Confirm whether the design uses module-gap seals, water-guide rails, gutters, roof sheeting or another canopy layer.
  • Set canopy slope and collection points so water reaches the intended gutter or drainage path.
  • Coordinate downpipes and discharge locations with pedestrians, vehicles, pavement and site stormwater design.
