Similar-looking hardware can have different head geometry, thread, strength, coating and installation requirements. Match each part to the approved mounting-system detail.

Specify the joint before the fastener

For an accurate match, start with the two components being connected and the installation method. A rail-channel bolt, clamp bolt and roof fastener can share a thread diameter but still be unsuitable for one another.

  • Head geometry, drive and tool-access requirement
  • Connected material thickness and required engagement
  • Material, finish, exposure environment and sealing detail
  • Installation instructions, including torque where specified by the system

Can a T-bolt be selected from thread size alone?

No. The T-head or hammer-head geometry must engage the specific rail or channel correctly. Provide the rail cross-section or approved part drawing together with the thread and required length.

Should 304 or 316 stainless steel be used?

The material should follow the project environment, connected materials and mounting-system specification. If a stainless grade is specified, confirm the exact grade and property class rather than substituting by appearance.

How should tightening torque be chosen?

Use the value specified for the exact fastener and mounting-system connection. Torque should not be copied from another rail system or selected from bolt diameter alone.
